90 Second Exposure of the Falkirk Wheel
The Falkirk Wheel is a unique, rotating boat lift located in central Scotland, connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. It was opened in 2002 and serves as an engineering marvel, designed to lift boats over a height difference of 35 meters (115 feet) between the two canals. The wheel's design is based on an ancient concept, but it incorporates modern technology to achieve its functionality. The Falkirk Wheel's structure is composed of two giant rotating arms, each carrying a gondola for boats. As one gondola is lifted, the other descends, with the entire mechanism powered by electricity.
This remarkable feat of engineering has become a popular tourist attraction and is a key feature of the Falkirk area. The project was conceived as part of a wider plan to revive Scotland's canal network, offering a new, efficient way to transport boats across the steep terrain. The Falkirk Wheel also has a visitor center, providing educational exhibits on its construction and the history of the canals. Its sleek, modern design, along with its combination of function and form, has earned it numerous awards and recognition as a symbol of innovative engineering.
Printed on 265gsm ultra white base and stippled lustre paper. Please note that all images are representative and slight variations in prints may occur due to your screen calibration differing from mine slightly. Don't worry though, I do my utmost to ensure the prints are as good as possible before shipping.
Please note:
Any watermarks will not be printed.
Prints are delivered with a small white border around the print. This is intentional and serves a couple of useful purposes:
- Framing Flexibility: It makes matting and framing easier without cropping the image.
- Protection: It allows for easier and safer handling without touching the printed area.
If you'd prefer your prints without borders, please let me know using the text box next to the print size selection.
