I dug out my old video fluid head for this Waddle to the Woods and decided to make a video. I've not made a dedicated one for 18 months or so (other than the odd slideshow), so it was pretty good to do.
As you'll see the 24mm f1.4 really lets you get in close to the subject. It's far from a macro lens , and hopefully you get a sense of being within the tree branches for some of the later shots.
The light to begin with was a bit flat, but once the sun came over the ridge and down into the woodland valley the leaves and branches seemed to come alive. I'm not sure how much longer the autumn colours will hold on for now this year, but looking forward to seeing what winter will bring - hopefully many feet of lovely crunchy snow! →
All shot on my Nikon Z7 with a combo of 60mm f2.8 macro, 50mm 1.4, and 24mm f 1.4. Edited in FCPX.
A quick note: I'm pretty rubbish at uploading videos to Youtube, so this was only uploaded in January 2023, about six weeks late, but I've backdated this blog post to at keep it in order on here.
Here's the video:
All the best,
Olly
